Star Scouts Workshop: Building Preparedness, Responsibility, and Care for Others
As part of the Universal School Jakarta’s commitment to holistic education, the Star Scouts Workshop was organised to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills in disaster preparedness and basic first aid. The workshop aimed to raise awareness, build confidence, and foster a sense of responsibility for personal safety and the wellbeing of others.
During the session, students were introduced to different types of natural disasters and learned appropriate actions to take before, during, and after an emergency. Through guided explanations and age-appropriate simulations, they developed an understanding of safe evacuation procedures, the importance of staying calm in critical situations, and making responsible decisions under pressure.
The workshop also placed strong emphasis on basic first aid skills, an important life competency that supports both independence and empathy. Students learned how to respond when a friend is injured or unwell, including simple techniques to provide initial assistance while waiting for adult or medical support. These activities were delivered in a supportive and engaging environment, encouraging active participation and confidence-building.
By combining knowledge with hands-on practice, the Star Scouts Workshop nurtured key values such as empathy, teamwork, and resilience. Students were encouraged to recognise that even small actions can make a meaningful difference in emergency situations, and that caring for others is an essential part of being a responsible community member.
This workshop reflects the school’s dedication to providing learning experiences that extend beyond academic achievement. Through programmes like the Star Scouts Workshop, students are empowered to develop practical life skills, strong character, and a readiness to face real-world challenges with confidence and compassion.
